Larry Edmunds Newsletter – May 2021

Hello everyone,

I hope you are all doing well! I know it has been too long since you’ve heard from me, but that’s because we have been hard at work with re-opening the store. I’m happy to announce that the Larry Edmunds Bookshop is once again open for in-person shopping. We are continuing to get the store in shape as well as work in the exciting new world that is LarryEdmunds.com. For me, there is something to learn or try every day as well as adjusting to the new norm after being closed for 53 weeks.

If you are local, come on down and visit us! Our hours are :

11 am – 5 pm Monday through Friday
11 am – 6 pm Saturday
12 pm – 6 pm Sunday

While the world of in-person events is still not up and running, the virtual world is full of exciting prospects. Slow to join the game, the Larry Edmunds Bookshop is now getting in on the fun. The good news is that everyone can have have a front row seat.

Tonight, Thursday, April 29, enjoy a virtual conversation with poster aficionado and collector Dwight M. Cleveland about his beautiful book from Assouline Publishing Cinema On Paper: The Graphic Genius of Movie Posters. The event is free – just register on Zoom – and it all begins at 6 pm PT. But in case you miss it, have no fear – we will be posting the video on our new YouTube Channel and you can view it at any time.

Then to celebrate my 30th anniversary at the Larry Edmunds Bookshop, join me on Sunday, May 9 at 12:30 pm PT for what will be an amazing journey down memory lane with the one and only Peter Bogdanovich! In an event I’ve called The Lare’s Picture Show, Peter will share his memories of the store back in the day as well as his contributions to cinema history and criticism in his many books. As a bonus, a limited number of his signed paperbacks will be made available (see details in Upcoming Events below). Tickets for the event are $5 – you can register directly on Zoom.

There are a lot more great books coming to the store and announcements will be headed your way very soon. We look forward to seeing you all again, whether it is in person or on the interwebs.
Best from the Boulevard,Jeff a.k.a. The Lare
